Out in the vine rows or down in the cellar, the estate still answers those who want to visit it.

You are tying up vines or working in the cellar during the harvest, and the tasting room gets calls that nobody can take: a family passing through wants a tour, a coach party is looking for a date, a couple asks about Saturday’s hours. The Alyas agent answers from what the estate has given it, records bookings for visits and tasting workshops, and keeps to objective information, with nothing that encourages drinking. Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health; drink in moderation.

On the phone, in this line of work

An AI assistant that talks about wine falls within the scope of France’s Évin law, which changes how it has to be written. The Code de la santé publique lists the media in which advertising for alcoholic drinks is allowed (article L3323-2), limits its content to specific indications such as alcohol content, origin, composition, producer, production method, or colour, smell and taste described objectively, and requires the health message “L’abus d’alcool est dangereux pour la santé” (article L3323-4). Content about a production region, a terroir, know-how or a heritage linked to a drink that has a quality or origin identification is not treated as advertising there (article L3323-3-1).

How a particular exchange is classified is ultimately a matter of law and for your legal adviser. What the agent’s framework guarantees is its register: facts (opening hours, length of the visit, the visit price you gave it, access, appellation, grape varieties), never praise, a recommendation for an occasion or an invitation (“come and treat yourself”). Whenever an alcoholic drink is mentioned, it reminds the caller: “Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health; drink in moderation.” And it does not address minors.

What the agent does for you

  • Book a cellar visit or a tasting workshop for adults: date, time slot, number of people, name and telephone number, in Google Calendar or Cal.com once connected.

  • Give the tasting-room hours, address, access (car park, coach), length of visits and languages spoken, from your information.

  • Take a group enquiry (coach party, works council, seminar): numbers, preferred date, lunch if any, so that the estate calls back.

  • Note the name and number of anyone wanting to buy, so that the team calls them back: the agent handles no sale.

An example workflow

Illustrative example

A scenario written to show how it works: it is not the recording of a real call.

  1. The contactOn a Wednesday at 5 p.m., the winemaker is out among the vine rows; a woman calls to book a visit for six people the following Saturday.
  2. Alyas agentThe agent says it is an AI and that the call is recorded, then gives the visit times and length stated by the estate, specifying that tastings are for adults only.
  3. Alyas agentIt notes the date, the number of people, the name and the telephone number, records the request in the connected calendar or passes it on for confirmation, then closes: “Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health; drink in moderation.”
  4. That evening, the estate finds the request, the transcript and the summary in its client dashboard, and confirms with the customer.

Connected tools

Frequently asked questions

Does a visitor calling about a tour of the estate know they are speaking to an AI?

Yes: the agent introduces itself as an AI and says the call is recorded before talking about dates or tastings. If the visitor prefers the estate, the call is transferred to the configured number, or a call-back is noted. See also our guide to what the GDPR and the AI Act require.

A caller asks which wine to pick for a family meal: what does the agent say?

It recommends nothing and suggests no occasion. It can give the objective information you have supplied about each cuvée (appellation, grape varieties, alcohol content, a sober description of colour and aromas) and offers to note a call-back so the caller can talk to the estate.

What happens if a visit involves children, or if the caller says they are a minor?

The agent states that tastings are for adults only and books none for a minor: both selling and giving alcohol free of charge to a minor are prohibited by the Code de la santé publique (article L3342-1). If you open the vineyard tour to families without a tasting, you tell it so and it says exactly that.

A customer wants to order cases by telephone: does the agent take the order?

No. It handles no distance sales: no order, no case price, no payment, no shipping. It notes the name, the number and the reason “purchase”, and the estate’s team calls back.

Who is responsible for the agent’s answers complying with the Évin law?

The estate, as for its website or brochures. Alyas sets the agent’s register and you find every call recorded, transcribed and replayable, but this is not legal advice: have your information reviewed by your legal adviser or your trade federation, and carry it into the agent’s instructions.
