The same agent answers on WhatsApp and on Messenger.

Your customers already write to you on their messaging apps. Once your accounts are connected from your workspace, the agent answers there with the same information as on your website. Instagram is shown as “Soon”.

Why this feature

Your customers write to you where they already are: on WhatsApp, or in a private message to your business’s Facebook Page. Those messages wait until you have a spare minute between two tasks.

Alyas connects those two messaging apps to your agent. The answers come from the knowledge you gave it once, the same as for your website chat: nothing to maintain twice.

How it works

  1. You create or choose a chat agent, and you teach it your business.

  2. On the Connections page of your workspace, you link WhatsApp: you enter your WhatsApp Business number in international format, choose the agent that will answer and accept the terms.

  3. For Messenger, you connect your Facebook Page from the same page: the agent answers the Page’s private messages.

  4. You choose the support role for incoming messages: the agent answers from the knowledge base and never publishes content.

  5. You write to your number or your Page yourself, as a customer would, to check the answer.

What you control

  • The agent that answers, chosen when you connect WhatsApp.

  • The agent’s role on the Page: support responder, which never publishes content.

  • The agent’s knowledge, shared across all its channels: you update it once, and it applies on your website as on the messaging apps.

  • Disconnecting WhatsApp, at any time from the Connections page.

  • Contact details: on WhatsApp and Messenger, the conversation itself serves as the contact method, so the agent doesn’t need to ask again for an email or phone number to save a request or an appointment. On WhatsApp, the sender’s number is used as it is.

Limits to know about

Worth knowing before you rely on it, stated plainly.

  • WhatsApp: connecting requires a paid Twilio account with WhatsApp enabled, verification of your business with Meta (Meta Business) and registration of your number as a WhatsApp sender.
  • The linked number cannot stay active on the consumer WhatsApp app.
  • Until registration on the Twilio and Meta side is complete, the number is linked to the agent but messages don’t arrive: the screen tells you it still needs to be finalised.
  • Messenger: the agent answers the Page’s text messages. Facebook comments are not handled, and messages that aren’t text are ignored.
  • Connecting Messenger depends on the permissions granted to your Page and on an availability check on Meta’s side.
  • Instagram: soon. The agent does not read Instagram messages yet.

Frequently asked questions

Can my current WhatsApp number stay on my phone?

Not if it’s the consumer WhatsApp app: the number linked to Alyas can’t stay active there. Plan for a number dedicated to WhatsApp Business.

What do I need before connecting WhatsApp?

A paid Twilio account with WhatsApp enabled, verification of your business with Meta and registration of your number as a sender. Alyas then links that number to your agent.

Does the agent answer Facebook comments?

No. It answers text messages sent to your Page. Comments are not handled.

What about Instagram?

Not yet. Receiving Instagram messages is under development: it is shown as “Soon” and is not available today.

Does the agent ask the customer for their email on WhatsApp?

Not to save a request or an appointment: the conversation serves as the contact method, and on WhatsApp the sender’s number is used as it is.

Do these messages count towards my call minutes?

No. Minutes apply to calls. Chat, WhatsApp and Messenger included, uses your plan’s token quota, with top-ups possible; the details are on the pricing page.
