Car garage: the workshop keeps running, and appointments still get booked.

At the garage, hands are deep in an engine when the phone rings. The Alyas agent picks up, answers questions about your services and takes appointment requests.

On the phone, in this line of work

At a garage, the phone mostly rings for simple requests: a slot for an oil change, a service before the holiday getaway, switching to winter tyres at the first frosts, a braking noise that has someone worried. Add to that customers who want to know when they can collect their car and those asking for a bodywork quote after a minor bump. These calls cluster at opening time, when vehicles are arriving, and at the end of the day, when drivers think about their car maintenance on the way home from work.

That is exactly when the workshop is busiest. The mechanic is under a lift with blackened hands, and the service adviser is explaining an invoice at the counter. A driver who only wants a slot to change their tyres does not keep trying: they dial the auto centre down the road. The one waiting for their vehicle calls again and again, and every new ring interrupts a job in progress. As for the driver worried about a warning light, with no answer they sometimes put off their visit.

Once your line is forwarded, the Alyas agent relies on the list of services, opening hours and terms you have given it. It notes the model, the registration number and the need, then books the chosen slot in your Google Calendar or Cal.com. It makes no diagnosis about a noise or a warning light: it reports in its summary what the customer described. As it has no access to your workshop management software, a question about the progress of a repair results in a message, or a transfer to the single number you have chosen — the workshop manager’s, for example.

What the agent does for you

  • Answer questions about your services, opening hours and terms (servicing, tyres, brakes…)

  • Note the vehicle, the service required and the customer’s availability

  • Create the appointment in Google Calendar or Cal.com

  • Transfer to the workshop for a breakdown or a quote

Frequently asked questions

Will my regular customers be thrown by not getting the mechanic on the line?

Nobody is caught off guard: the agent introduces itself as an AI assistant from the start and warns that the call is recorded. A customer who wants to speak to the workshop manager simply says so, and the call is switched to the number you have configured. See also our guide to what the GDPR and the AI Act require.

A driver asks whether they can keep driving with a warning light on: what does the agent say?

It does not give an opinion: no remote diagnosis, even about a warning light or a noise. It notes the model, the warning light described and the contact details, then offers the first workshop slot or transfers the call if your instructions say so.

My workshop schedule is on paper: can the agent still take appointments?

To book appointments itself, it needs a Google Calendar or Cal.com calendar connected to your account. Otherwise, it takes down the request — vehicle, service, the customer’s availability — and you find it in your client dashboard to copy into your schedule.
