Kitchen in full swing, and the restaurant phone still gets answered.

During service, the phone rings and nobody can pick up. The Alyas agent answers on the team’s behalf: opening hours, today’s menu, terrace, parking — and it takes the booking request.

Frequently asked questions

Will a customer calling to book know they aren’t speaking to someone from the front of house?

Yes: before even mentioning dates or covers, the agent says it is an AI assistant and that the call is recorded. If the customer would rather speak to the team, about a group menu for example, they ask and the call is transferred to the number you have configured. See also our guide to what the GDPR and the AI Act require.

What does the agent say when a customer asks whether a dish contains allergens?

It answers only from the information you have given it: if your menu details the allergens, it can list them; if not, it says so and notes the question so the team can call back. On a subject this sensitive, give it a clear instruction, such as always referring the caller to the front of house or the kitchen.

The restaurant’s number is on the window and in the guides: do we need to change it?

No. You set up call forwarding with your phone operator to the Alyas line — for example only when nobody picks up, if your operator offers this — and the number your customers know stays the same. A dedicated number is still possible if you prefer.
