Allo alternative: a phone system with AI or a standalone AI voice agent?

Allo (withallo.com) is a business phone system designed for small sales teams: a number per user, mobile and desktop apps, call recording, transcription and summaries, CRM sync and SMS. Its AI receptionist is an add-on. Alyas, by contrast, is only the part that answers: an AI voice agent that picks up instead of a person. The right choice therefore depends on what you are trying to replace.

What Allo is

Allo describes itself as the phone system for SMEs whose revenue depends on the phone. Its help centre presents it as a mobile-first solution built for small sales teams of 2 to 15 people: every call is recorded, transcribed, summarised by AI and synced with the CRM.

On top of that foundation, Allo offers an IVR, opening hours, simultaneous or sequential ringing, supervision of the team’s calls, SMS and, as an add-on, a Power Dialer for outbound calls. As of 1 October 2026, the Business plan is listed at €35 excl. VAT per user per month billed annually, or €45 excl. VAT billed monthly; Allo states that its pricing is recent and may still change.

Allo’s AI receptionist

Allo’s AI receptionist answers day and night, responds to questions based on your website or a PDF, offers free slots from your calendar, transfers calls that need a person and logs the call in the CRM. It can also send a follow-up SMS. Allo says it works on your existing number and converses in several languages, including French.

It is an add-on that is activated on a paid plan and takes up a separate seat: €35 excl. VAT per month per agent with annual billing, as of 1 October 2026. The advertised free trial is 7 days.

When Allo is the better choice

If your team makes and takes calls all day and wants a number per person, calling apps, SMS and a CRM that updates automatically, Allo covers the whole need in a single tool. The AI receptionist then takes the calls the team cannot, with the history already in the same system.

This scenario fits a small sales team, an estate agency or a service business that sells over the phone and works in a CRM such as HubSpot or Pipedrive.

When Alyas is a better fit

If you are not looking to change phone systems but simply want your calls answered, Alyas gets straight to the point. It answers 24/7 based on your information (website, text, PDF), states that it is an AI and that the call is being recorded, takes the caller’s details, offers an appointment via Google Calendar or Cal.com, transfers to a configured number if needed and sends you a transcript and summary.

The same content powers a chat widget for your website, and data is hosted in the European Union. On the other hand, Alyas does not send SMS, does not route calls to multiple departments and does not connect to a CRM: if these points are decisive, Allo is better equipped. Alyas pricing is set out on the Pricing page, with a 10-day free trial and no card required.

Our verdict

A small team that sells over the phone and wants everything in one place, numbers, apps, SMS, CRM and an AI receptionist, should look at Allo. A business that does not want to change its phone system and is simply looking for an AI that answers, provides information, takes details and books appointments, with data hosted in the EU, will find Alyas a simpler answer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Allo’s AI receptionist included in the subscription?

No. According to Allo’s pricing page as of 1 October 2026, it is an add-on at €35 excl. VAT per month per agent with annual billing, on top of a paid plan. AI transcription and summaries, on the other hand, are included in the paid plans.

Can Alyas replace Allo?

Only if you need just the receptionist part. Alyas provides no per-user number, no calling app, no SMS and no CRM sync; it answers calls, takes details, books appointments and transfers to a single number.

Do I need to change my number to use Alyas?

No. You keep your line and forward it to Alyas, either permanently or only outside opening hours or when nobody answers, depending on what your phone operator or phone system allows. You can also use a dedicated number.
